Every year a team of children from Y5 and 6 take part in the worldwide First Lego League competition where they are required to build a robot to carry out several missions and research and present a solution to a problem. Alongside this the team are assessed for their Core Values (teamwork, encouraging others, etc).
This year's competition is all about Space Travel and takes place on Saturday 12th January 2019. The children are busy programming their robot to complete missions at the moment.
The programming team went to Inspire 2 Learn on Wednesday 28th November where they did some practise competition scenarios. On their first attempt they scored 19 points but by persisting throughout the day and good teamwork, they ended the day scoring 74 points!
On Saturday 12th January 2019, the Lego Team travelled to Teesside University to compete in the FLL Tournament. They competed on 3 robot table games, talked about their robot design and presented a project on radiation in Space. They won a trophy from the Judges for being resilient and hardworking throughout the contest.
